Ombré
at TEO
Ombré is the art of blending your natural root colour into lighter tips with a soft, sun-kissed gradient. At TEO Beauty Centre we design every ombré to your hair length, current colour and lifestyle — for a look that grows out beautifully and needs the least maintenance in colour work.
Why Ombré?
Grow-out Friendly
Roots blend naturally — refresh every 4–6 months rather than monthly.
Sun-Kissed Effect
Adds movement and dimension without a full colour commitment.
Hair-Health Priority
Bond-protecting Olaplex and K18 integrated into every session.
Custom Gradient
Balayage, sombré, classic or reverse ombré for every hair story.
Why is ombre the most requested technique in salons?
The word ombre comes from the French for "shadow" and describes the natural interplay of light as it transitions from dark to light in the hair. Classic highlights are applied in sections separated by foil, leaving a sharp demarcation line at the root. Ombre, on the other hand, is applied by hand, with a brush and in a freehand technique; the transition created between the root and the lighter ends is visual rather than chemical. This is precisely why, even as the root grows out, it never gives the impression that the colour has "grown out."
At TEO Beauty Centre, an ombre application is not merely a colouring service — it is a study in the placement of light according to facial architecture. A golden-ratio map of your face is drawn up; the sections falling at the jawline, cheekbones and eye level are deliberately planned to be one shade lighter. In this way, ombre gives you not just "coloured hair" but an "illuminated face." Before the application begins, we carry out a 15-minute light simulation and present the result for your approval before we pick up a brush.
The most critical consideration after ombre is aftercare. Lightened hair is more porous than natural hair; it loses moisture quickly and releases colour rapidly. This is why, when every guest leaves our salon after an ombre service, we recommend an Olaplex No.3 home care set combined with a sulphate-free purple shampoo. Using the purple shampoo once a week neutralises brassy tones; using Olaplex once a month rebuilds the bonds. With these two steps, your ombre will remain as fresh as the day you left the salon for six months.
"Ombre is not a colour — it is a placement of light planned according to your facial architecture."
Which ombre technique is right for you?
We offer five different interpretations depending on your hair length, current colour and preferences.
Classic Ombre
Dark roots, ends 4–5 shades lighter. The most defined transition; perfect for shorter hair.
Sombre (Soft Ombre)
A softer 2–3 shade transition; ideal for a professional office environment.
Balayage
Freehand lights swept on with a brush; the most natural 'sun-kissed' effect.
Babylights
Ultra-fine sections; a baby-hair shimmer that adds volume to fine hair.
Reverse Ombre
Light roots, dark ends; for those seeking an unconventional contrast.
The ombre application process
Tone Mapping
20 minutes of hair analysis + facial mapping + light simulation.
Bond Protection
Hair bonds are protected in advance with Olaplex No.1.
Freehand Colouring
90–120 minutes of hand-applied freehand lightening with a brush.
Toner & Treatment
Personalised toner + K18 protein mask + blow-dry.
How to keep your ombre looking freshly done for 6 months
What To Do
- Use a purple shampoo once a week to neutralise brassy tones.
- Strengthen the bonds with Olaplex No.3 once a month.
- Never use a hairdryer or curling iron without a heat-protective spray.
- Have your ends trimmed every 6–8 weeks to maintain shine.
- In summer, protect lightened ends from the sun with a UV-filter spray.
What To Avoid
- Sulphate- and salt-containing shampoos will fade the colour up to three times faster.
- Do not leave hair unwashed after the sea or pool.
- Do not wash your hair for the first 72 hours; allow the pigment to lock in.
- Do not retouch roots at home with box dye; it will ruin the ombre effect.
- Excessively hot showers rapidly strip both colour and moisture.

Ombré FAQ
What is the difference between ombré and balayage?
Ombré is a clear horizontal transition from dark to light. Balayage is a freehand painting technique that creates softer, more scattered highlights.
Does ombré damage my hair?
Any lightening stresses the hair, but with Olaplex and K18 integrated into the session the bonds are protected and integrity is preserved.
How often should I refresh?
Every 4–6 months is enough thanks to the natural grow-out.
Can I go ombré on very dark hair?
Yes — dark hair produces some of the most striking ombré results. Lifting to the desired level may require two sessions.
How long is the first session?
3 to 4 hours including consultation, application, processing and blow-dry.
How should I care for my ombré?
Sulphate-free shampoo, purple toning shampoo once a week and heat-protector spray before styling.
