Waxing
at TEO
Applied with the right technique and formula, waxing delivers 3–4 times longer smoothness than shaving, visibly brightens the skin and gradually thins hair growth. At TEO Beauty Centre every waxing service is performed with single-use spatulas, room-level hygiene and dermatologically tested formulas.
Why Waxing?
3–4 Weeks Smooth
Removed from the root — dramatically longer than shaving.
Finer, Sparser Hair
Over time the follicle weakens; regrowth is thinner and lighter.
Exfoliating Effect
Wax also lifts dead surface cells; skin is instantly smooth and radiant.
Single-use Hygiene
New sterile spatula and dispenser-fresh product for every guest.
Waxing demands the right technique, not speed
At first glance, waxing may appear to be a simple "apply, pull, done" affair — but in reality it is a ritual governed by dozens of variables that determine the health of your skin, the future of the hair follicle, and the level of discomfort during the experience. At TEO Beauty Centre, every waxing service performed at our Mall of İstanbul studio follows a fully standardised protocol — from room temperature and product heat, to the angle of application and the direction of removal, to the post-treatment cooling gel and the 48-hour home-care guide. Our goal is not merely to remove your hair; it is to leave your skin in a better condition after every session than it was before.
The easiest way to tell whether waxing has been performed correctly is to look at your skin 24 hours later. If redness has subsided quickly, there are no inflamed follicles, and no ingrown hairs have formed, the waxing was truly carried out by professional hands. To meet these three criteria, we use professional heaters that maintain wax temperature at a steady 45°C, single-use polypropylene spatulas, and work surfaces that are re-sterilised between every guest. Meeting all Ministry of Health requirements expected of a beauty centre within Mall of İstanbul is our baseline; our aim is always to add a further layer of hygiene on top of that.
From strip wax to honey wax, from roll-on cartridges to sensitive-area Brazilian waxing, every waxing technique performed in our salon is suited to a specific hair type and a specific area. Before deciding which wax is appropriate for your skin, we conduct a brief consultation — we always ask about any medications you are taking, your skin type, and your previous waxing experiences. Because the right technique begins with the right information.
"The quality of a wax is not revealed during the session — your skin 24 hours later tells the truth."
A 6-step studio process from consultation to aftercare guide
From the moment our cabin door closes to the moment you leave, every stage of the experience is designed around hygiene, comfort, and correct technique.
Skin Consultation
A 5-minute pre-session discussion covering hair type, skin sensitivity, medication use, and previous waxing experiences.
Skin Preparation
The area is cleansed with a specialist disinfectant, then lightly dusted with talc powder to improve wax adhesion.
Temperature Calibration
Strip wax is tested at 45°C and honey wax at 39°C; a wrist check is performed before any product touches your skin.
Application
Applied in the direction of hair growth, then removed in one swift motion against the grain. Correct angle = minimum discomfort.
Soothing
Skin is immediately calmed with a cooling gel containing aloe vera and a Provit B5 lotion.
48-Hour Guide
A mini aftercare card with advice on avoiding hot showers, saunas, sun exposure, and tight clothing for 48 hours.
Six tangible differences that will change how you feel
The main reason we uphold a higher standard than many centres in our area is that we regard waxing not as a "quick treatment" but as a skincare session.
Single-Use Spatulas
A new polypropylene spatula for every guest. The same stick is never double-dipped — we do not double-dip, ever.
Hypoallergenic Formulas
We use specially developed sensitive-skin ranges from Cirépil Perron Rigot and Depilève.
Temperature Control
Thermostat-regulated professional heaters keep the wax at a consistent temperature — never scalding, never cold.
Appointment Comfort
Your booking starts on time. The 20–45 minutes you set aside for your waxing session are yours alone.
Skin-Brightening Effect
Not only hair but also the layer of dead skin cells is gently removed. Your skin glows instantly after the session.
Privacy
Separate, fully enclosed cabins for Brazilian and bikini waxing. No open doors, no through-traffic whatsoever.
Five waxing techniques, one studio
Every hair type and every area calls for a different approach. We apply five core waxing techniques in our salon, each used for its intended purpose.
Strip Wax
Classic hot wax. The most effective solution for thick, resistant hair. Ideal for arms, legs, and back.
Honey Wax (Strip)
Low-heat wax removed with a paper strip. An exceptionally gentle option for the face, nape, and sensitive skin.
Brazilian Wax
Hard hot wax specially formulated for sensitive areas. Applied thick and removed without a strip for minimum discomfort.
Roll-On Cartridge
A hygienic roll-on system applied with a single-use head. Offers a speed advantage on larger surface areas.
Sugaring Wax
A natural formula prepared from water, sugar, and lemon. For guests who wish to remove hair using entirely natural ingredients.
Before and after waxing: what to do and what to avoid
Do This
- Gently exfoliate the skin before your appointment to reduce ingrown hairs.
- Ensure hair is at least 3–5 mm long; wax cannot grip shorter hair.
- Moisturise generously for 48 hours after waxing to help the skin barrier recover quickly.
- In areas prone to ingrown hairs, exfoliate gently twice a week.
- If you would prefer not to book during sensitive days, let us know your cycle calendar.
Avoid This
- Do not shave within 24 hours of your waxing appointment; hair thickness affects the wax's grip.
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot springs, or very hot showers for the first 24 hours.
- Stay out of the sun, sunbeds, and chlorinated pools for the first 48 hours; there is a risk of pigmentation changes.
- Stop using retinol creams and acid exfoliant products 3 days before your session.
- Opt for breathable cotton fabrics rather than tight synthetic underwear for 48 hours.
How does hair thinning occur with waxing?
The first thing many of our guests wonder is whether hair really does become finer over time. The scientifically honest answer is yes — but the process varies from person to person and area to area. Because waxing removes hair from the root, the follicle weakens slightly with each session and the regrowth that follows is finer than before. On average, this change becomes visible between 4 and 6 sessions. On larger surfaces such as arms and legs, thinning becomes pronounced within 6–8 sessions, while in hormonally driven areas such as the upper lip, the process may take longer. In contrast, hair removed by shaving is cut at the skin's surface and grows back appearing thicker and darker.
The ideal waxing frequency varies between 3 and 6 weeks depending on the individual's rate of hair growth. Because coming earlier catches the hair while the follicle is not yet at full strength, the interval we generally recommend is 4 weeks. Maintain this schedule consistently and after a year you will notice a visible reduction in hair. However, waxing cannot permanently eliminate hair in hormonally driven areas; for permanent results we recommend diode or alexandrite laser hair removal. Many of our guests who use both methods choose to regularly thin their hair with waxing whilst reducing it permanently with laser.

Waxing FAQ
How long does waxing keep skin smooth?
You will typically enjoy 3 to 4 weeks of smoothness. Coarser areas like legs and arms tend towards 4 weeks; fine facial hair regrows in 2–3 weeks.
Waxing or laser hair removal — which is better?
Laser is the choice for permanent reduction; waxing offers short-term, affordable, immediate results. Many of our guests combine both — laser for gradual permanent thinning, wax between sessions for silky skin.
Does waxing darken the skin?
Not when done properly. Correct temperature, correct technique and single-direction removal actually brighten the skin by removing dead cells. Darkening happens only with incorrect protocols — none of which apply at TEO.
Can I be waxed during my period?
Yes, but your pain threshold is lower during this window. We recommend booking 3–4 days after your period for maximum comfort.
What should I do about ingrown hairs?
Exfoliate twice weekly with a gentle scrub, moisturise daily and prefer cotton underwear. Persistent ingrowns respond well to salicylic-acid lotions under dermatologist guidance.
Will my first wax hurt a lot?
The first session is usually the most sensitive because hair is at its coarsest. Sensitivity drops noticeably with each subsequent visit. Precise temperature control and single-pull technique make even the first wax more comfortable than most guests expect.
