From soft waves to tight curls — perm techniques, who they suit and their effect on hair health.
A perm is a chemical process that gives hair long-lasting wave or curl. Modern perms are a world away from the crisp look of the '90s — natural, soft waves are now the norm.
Beach Waves Perm
The relaxed, large waves of a summer sea look. A favourite for natural, volume-without-a-blow-dry results.
Digital Perm
A heat-controlled, lower-chemical modern perm. Curls return when hair is wet — the easiest perm to maintain.
Classic Perm
Tight, defined curls formed with smaller rods.
Aftercare
Do not wash hair for 48 hours after a perm. Sulphate-free shampoo and a weekly hydrating mask preserve the curls.
